Great taste in curation but average in creation

If an individual has great taste in design and pretty much has 10/10 in technical skills with tools then a [[Linear thinking]] approach would assume that he/she must also be capable of crafting designs and products of the same quality. But thats hardly the case. So what’s missing?

One assumption could be that they have over time developed the skill to identify beauty based on what’s trending and appealing to the market but they haven’t really figured out why it is beautiful. What are the principles or primary features that results in the design feeling beautiful?

  1. Are Fads similar in the sense that they are pretty only for a while because there’s some hype around it but maybe not real beauty which is why they are not timeless.

  2. Does that mean really beauty is timeless? And anything that is not timeless is not really beautiful?
